两个或两个以上的简单句用并列连词连在一起构成的句子，叫做并列句，不过用连词连接，为了句子清晰明了，后面部分往往会省略前面提到过的相同的主语，而只连接词或词组
其基本结构是“简单句+并列连词+简单句、词、词组”。
并列连词有：and,but,or,so等.并列句中的各简单句意义同等重要，相互之间没有从属关系，是平行并列的关系。它们之间用连词连结。

otherwise,however,or等）连接的句子是并列句，两个句子彼此不做句子成分，分别是完整的单句。he gets into the lift and goes up to the twelfth floor有两个主语（后一个相同可以省略）和两个谓语（gets,goes）.
这是简单句he gets into the lift to go up to the twelfth floor或者getting into the lift ，he goes up to the twelfth floor.
这样就是复合句了after he gets into the lift ,he goes up to the twelfth floor。有了连词after,when,whether等引导一个句子，并且在另一个句中担任句子成分就是复合句了．，如做主语是主语从句，做宾语就是宾语从句，上面的after,when做时间状语从句。
