1. 表示动作:
(1) dress“穿”作及物动词时,只能用人作宾语,而且只能表示穿衣服,不能用于穿鞋袜等(反义词是undress)dress 也可以作不及物动词。如:
The cheats pretended to dress him in his new clothes.
骗子假装给他穿上新衣服。
He dressed quickly.
他很快穿上衣服。
(2) put on + 衣物等“穿衣,戴帽”(反义词为 take off)。如:
Then he put on his coat and hat and went to a chemist’s shop.
然后他穿上外套,戴上帽子,上一家药店去了。
(3) pull on + 衣物“随便穿上,匆匆披上”(反义词为 pull off)。如:
His clothes seemed to be just pulled on to keep him covered, like a blanket to keep one warm.
他的衣服好像是随便地披在身上,就像人们为了保暖,将毯子裹在身上一样。
2. 有示状态:
(1) wear“穿戴着”衣物等(可用进行时)。如:
What size dress do you wear, Madam?
夫人,你穿多大尺码的衣服?
Why not wear some flowers?
戴几朵花不好吗?
(2) have on“穿戴着”(不可用进行时) = be wearing 如:
But he has nothing on.
可他什么也没穿。
(3) be in, be dressed in“穿着”,后面常接表示颜色的形容词,后接名词时,名词前要有限定词。如:
How splendid the Emperor looks in his new clothes!
皇帝穿着新衣服,看上去多么华丽啊!
The two foreign students were both dressed in Chinese-style clothes.
没那两个外国学生都穿着中式衣服。
(4) with 表穿戴只能作定语,而且只能与眼镜、手套之类名词搭配使用,不能接衣服。如:
The girl with glasses is our monitor.
戴眼镜的那个姑娘是我们的班长。
