(当时没有人认识这个石头的价值。) 有些人学富五车，才高八斗，可就是没有人重用他。于是就只能仰天长啸：Nobody appreciates my talent. (天下无人识我啊！)。如今我们说某某人是伯乐。我们意思是说：He is good at appreciating people’s talents. （他擅长发现人才）。其他例子还有：

appreciate表示“增值”的意思也一定要学会哦：
Antique paintings will appreciate with time. 古董画会随时间增值。
depreciate就是“贬值、折旧”的意思：
Shares in the company have depreciated. 该公司的股票已经贬值。

1.其后可接名(代)词、动名词、名词性从句等.作宾语，但不能接不定式:
We shall appreciate hearing from youagain.能再次收到你的来信，我们将十分感激。
lappreciate that you have come here soearly.感谢你来得这么早。
2.习惯上不用“人”作宾语，其后只能接“事”作宾语，而不能接“人”作宾语(注意: 这与thank 的用法恰恰相反) :
lappreciate your kindness.谢谢你的好意
He thanked her for her kindness.他感谢她的好意。
3.后接if或when从句时习惯上要先接it，其后不直接跟if或when引导的从句，若语义上需要接这类从句，需借助it :
I would appreciate itvery much if youwould help me with it.如果你能帮助我做这事，我会十分感激。
We really appreciate itwhen she offeredto help.她来帮忙了，我们十分感激。
