孩之宝当初把变形金刚带到中国的时候有些人名是已经翻译好的（包括擎天柱），其余的是后来国内翻译的。所以“擎天柱”是由孩之宝所指定的中国译名。

可能是孩之宝公司内部有比较了解中国文化的人，或找人起的，但这已无法考证。
