    华人先了解一下！！！本城市已经改名许多次，曼谷（泰语：บางกอก，法语：Bangkok）是这个城市的最早的名称，所以口语一定不是「曼谷」，就像中国也不叫「蓟城」一模一样，请不要再问蓟城是哪里？不论如何，在泰国「บางกอก」这六个字也不意外，只是外国人不会读泰文。
    曼谷（บางกอก），因为华语（Mandarin、จีนกลาง、官话、现代标准汉语、北京话、北方话、台湾腔 等等）发音太少，所以不可以用中文来音译。这个地方本来无居民，到1767年潮州人才主吧～，最早叫「บางเกาะ」英语应该音译 Barng Gorh，บาง（Barng）是地底的意思，เกาะ（Gorh）是岛，它不是真正的岛，是有运河切为岛，是地内岛的意思，所以有时候中文文献就描述曼谷是东方威尼斯，反正泰国水之城有三个，恭贴、阿瑜陀耶、安帕瓦区（Amphawa）。17世纪有法国工程师盖星形要塞（泰剧天生一对整连续剧一直一直讲到这个星形要塞），然後他就听错变成บางกอก（Barng Gog），กอก（Gog）其实是橄榄树的意思，所以有些文献也写是橄榄树地底那样子。但是法语音译一定不是Barng Gog，他写的是Bangkok，英国人不懂法语，但他会读拉丁文，所以英语就叫 UK: bæŋˈkɒk, US: ˈbæŋkɒk 就是这样，我开Google 然後把Bangkok 用法语来讲，发音是跟泰语一模一样的。潮州人是本城的原住民，然後他就把「曼谷」（Mang1Gog3）来书写，讲中文的人不懂潮州话～但他会读中文，所以他就把「曼谷」来称Man4Gu3。
    本城也有另外的名字，吞武里（Thonburi）、拉达那哥欣岛（Rattanakosin）、帕那空（Phra Nakhon），但不是问的人寻找。
    这个城市官方名字是「恭贴玛哈那空」（泰语：กรุงเทพมหานคร，英语：Krung Thep Maha Nakhon。英语是这样写），是1972年起的官方名字，泰语、南泰语、兰纳语、寮国语（老挝语）的口语是「恭贴」。但这个名字是1782就已经有了，然後长长的那个礼仪名称就是从「恭贴玛哈那空」过来的，全部都是高棉语跟梵语外来词，但是泰语语法的，那我翻译一下。
